Frequently Asked Questions
How do I purchase content from your site?
It's really easy to download events from this website. You need to set up a free account with us by clicking "Sign up for free" above, and then you'll need to buy some credits to spend in the archive. Then all you need to do is browse the archive and click download!. If you already
have an account with us, you'll need to Login before you can purchase credits and download files.
Why do you charge for downloads ?
We have to cover our server costs and also pay the people who develop and maintain the site for us. We want to, eventually, explore the last 18 years of recordings held in our offline archive and make it available here.
What are credits?
Our archive works by using a micro-payments system. You purchase a package of credits and redeem them for audio and video files from this website. One credit is valued at £1 and the audio and video files cost between 1 and 3 credits per download depending on the file type (audio/video) and the size
of the file.
What is the download area and why is there a time limit on the button?
The download area gives you access to all of your previous downloads. The links will be active for 12 hours after you have bought the file. The time limit is basically a way of keeping our costs down. If you have trouble downloading a file and are over the 12 hour timeframe, please contact us using
the Contact Page.
How will I know when the site has been updated?
You can subscribe to our RSS Feed by clicking on this icon:
when you see it, and book marking the page it leads to.
What is an RSS Feed?
RSS allows you to see when the archive has been updated with new content. Click on the orange rss icon and bookmark that page using Apple's Safari or the excellent Firefox web browser. Your browser will then automatically check for updates on the archive and inform you whether new content is available,
saving you the trouble! See the screenshot opposite (Safari browser) which tells the user there has been 1 update at the Hay Festival site.
How do I change my email address or password?
Firstly Log into your account using the 'Account Panel' on the top right hand side of the page. Then click on the 'account details'. This will take you to your account summary page, where you can change any of your details by simply
clicking with the mouse over the relevant text.
Why does my video cut out before the end while I am playing it?
The most common reason for this happening is that you are trying to play the file before it has fully downloaded. REMEDY: ensure that the file has completely downloaded befoere you try and play it. Also, check that the size of the downloaded file on your hard drive is the same as the size listed on
the event page. Remember that some of the files, especially video files, are large and take some time to download.
Why can I not fast-forward my video file while I am playing it?
