Jokha Alharthi was born in 1978 and educated in Oman and the UK. She obtained her PhD in classical Arabic literature from Edinburgh University, and works as associate professor in the Arabic department at Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat. She is author of two collections of short stories, three children’s books, and three novels. She received the Man Booker International Prize, 2019, for the translation of Celestial Bodies, which has been translated to many languages.
