(Glasgow, United Kingdom, 1964) Niall Ferguson is Professor of History at Harvard University, USA, and a researcher at the Hoover Institution (Stanford University, USA). A regular contributor to radio and television in different countries, he is a recognised expert in contemporary politics and economics. He writes for both the Financial Times and Newsweek. In 2004, Time magazine named him as one of the hundred most influential people in the world. In 2007 he published The War of the World: Twentieth-Century Conflict and the Descent of the West, 1904-1953 and in 2008, The Ascent of Money. This year, he has published Civilization: The West and the Rest in the United Kingdom.
