Holds a doctorate in Comparative Literature from the UERI, where she also studied Brazilian Literature. She has lived in France, worked as a translator and currently lives in Denver, where she works in academic research.
She won the José Saramago Prize (2003, Portugal) and was shortlisted for the Jabuti Prize (2004). Her best-known works include Os fios da memória, Sinfonía en Bronco, Un viejo de colombina and Caligrafías.
