Karen Armstrong is an expert on the history of religions and is the author of numerous books on the subject. Born in Worcestershire, United Kingdom, in 1944 into a family of Scottish background. In 1969 and after seven years as a Catholic nun in the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, she left the order. After graduating from Oxford University, she has dedicated her life to studying religions from a historical point of view, although she has also taught at the University of London and a public school. An honorary member of the Association of Muslim Social Scientists, her work has been translated into around 40 languages and she has worked on several television documentaries. She has published almost 30 books, including: A History of God, A History of Jerusalem and The Lost Art of Scripture, published in Spanish by Ediciones Paidós.
