Fatima Bhutto was born in Afghanistan and grew up in Syria and Pakistan. She completed a BA in Middle Eastern studies at Columbia University, and received a master’s degree in South Asian Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London. She published her debut novel, The Shadow of the Crescent Moon, in 2013. Set in Pakistan’s tribal region, it was longlisted for the Baileys Prize. She is author of six books of fiction and non-fiction, most recently The Runaways and New Kings of the World.
