(United Kingdom) Mark Cocker is an author, naturalist and environmental activist who writes about nature and wildlife for different British media and publications. He has published nine books, including biography, history, literary criticism and memoire. His latest project, Birds and People, done in partnership with the photographer David Tipling, was published in 2013 and was five years in the making. His previous work, Crow Country (2008), was nominated for a number of prizes, including the Samuel Johnson Prize, and won the New Angle Prize for Literature in 2009. He is a co-founder of the eco-organization New Networks for Nature, which advocates the importance of landscape and nature in British culture.
