Ann Bateson gained considerable experience as a broadcaster at the BBC and Radio Exterior de España. She created, and presents each week, the English cultural radio programme, Madrid Live, which is broadcast on Radio Círculo at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid. Madrid Live is one of the few broadcast media in Spain to feature the original voices of English-speaking celebrities who promote their work here. Recent interviewees include Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman, best-selling novelist Val McDermid and Royal Shakespeare Artistic Director Greg Doran. Ann has also conducted interviews on stage at the Hay Festival in Segovia and lectures in radio production and presentation at the Instituto de Empresa University in Segovia.
Previously, as Arts Projects Officer at the British Council, Ann managed the Spanish tours of prestigious theatre companies including the Royal National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company. Ann is now the Royal Shakespeare Company Consultant for Spain. Additionally, she is a voice artist and has voiced English courses, corporate videos and adverts. She also translates for key cultural bodies and writes scripts for the Ministry of Education.
