Samah AL-SHAIKH

al-shaikh-samah (Saudi Arabia) She received a B.A. in Business Administration from de Islamic University (Gaza). She has worked as an editor at  House of Poetry, as a web designer at State Information Service and as a broadcaster at  Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation.
She writes poetry, short stories, essays and children's literature. She has worked in the performing arts industry as a playwright, actress and director. Al-Shaikh’s articles and stories have been published in numerous cultural newspapers, magazines and websites, she has also participated in many local literary meetings.
She is a member of the think tank Utopia, The General Union of Palestinian Writers & Authors and The General Union of Palestinian Expressionist Artists.
Her work has been included in the following anthologies: Out of the Context of River, edited by Morad Alsodani, House of Poetry (Palestine 2005),Qissat a collection of short stories by Palestinian women, edited by Joe Glanville, Telegram (London, 2006), and The Winged Shine, edited by Mohammad Helmi Alresha and Amal Awad Radwan, (Palestine 2007).
Samah’s latest work appears in Forest of Stories: Allegories for the old & the child , a collection of short stories published by Culture & Free Thought Association (Palestine 2008).
