Nahla Chahal is a writer, journalist, researcher and activist, born to an Iraqi mother and Lebanese father, who were both communist militants. She is a senior research fellow affiliated with the Arab reform Initiative, a consortium of Arab policy research institutes.She was Associate Professor of Political Sociology at the Lebanese University, from 1985 to 1996, a visiting professor at the St-Esprit University (Kaslik, Lebanon) in 2005. She is a weekly writer on three Arab daily newspapers: al Hayat, al Akhbar and al Arab al Youm.She is the author of books and articles on Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine political issues.
