Nahla CHAHAL

chahal-nahla Nahla Chahal is a writer, journalist, researcher and activist, born to an Iraqi mother and Lebanese father, who were both communist militants. She is a senior research fellow affiliated with the Arab reform Initiative, a consortium of Arab policy research institutes.She was Associate Professor of Political Sociology at the Lebanese University, from 1985 to 1996, a visiting professor at the St-Esprit University (Kaslik, Lebanon) in 2005. She is a weekly writer on three Arab daily newspapers: al Hayat, al Akhbar and al Arab al Youm.She is the author of books and articles on Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine political issues. Her latest publications are La Formidable capacité d’intégration du systeme libanais (2003) and Une irakité latent et en devenir (2004).
