CONZ

conz (Belgium) Conz (b. 1977). wanted to be a comic artist even as a young boy. He made his debut in 2004 with the semi-autobiographical album Toen ik nog Baas van de Wereld was (When I Still Ruled the World, publ. Oogachtend), which won the prize for the best debut at the Turnhout comics festival. He went on to create the ambitious trilogy De Tweede Kus (The Second Kiss, publ. Oogachtend), which was translated into French in 2011 as Quelque part les étoiles (publ. Même pas mal). He has also illustrated a wordless comic strip for pre-schoolers, Wat zie je in de zee? (What Can You See in the Sea?, publ. Lannoo), and is currently working on his dream project, the science-fiction graphic novel De Wraak van de Walvis (The Whale’s Revenge), which will be somewhere in the region of 550 pages when completed. Conz also teaches at the Academy of Visual Arts in Mechelen and travels around Belgium giving workshops.
