José Manuel BLECUA PERDICES

(Zaragoza, 1939) Director of the Real Academia Española (RAE, Royal Spanish Academy). He comes from a lineage of philologists, among which his father, José Manuel Blecua Teijeiro, stands out. He became a member of the RAE in 2006, where he holds the chair "h" and on December 16, 2010 he was elected Director of the institution. Professor at the Universidad Autónoma of Barcelona, he has been the academic director of the Cervantes Institute and leads the Fundéu BBVA. He was president of the State Commission for the Celebration of the IV centennial of Don Quixote.
