(Jerez de la Frontera, Cadiz, 1926) Highly regarded poet who has been awarded the poetry prizes Platero and Boscan, and the novel awards by Biblioteca Breve, Ateneo and Plaza Janés. He received the Critics Award on three occasions, twice as a poet and one as a novelist. In 2012 he was awarded the Cervantes Prize for Literature. His latest works are Entreguerras y Oficio de lector.
