Xi CHUAN

(Xuzhou, Jiangsu, The People’s Republic of China, 1963). He was a visiting professor at the University of Iowa (USA) in 2002 and a visiting associate professor at the University of New York in 2007. He currently teaches classical Chinese literature at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. He is especially known for his long poems in prose, he also works as a translator, mainly of poetry. He has translated works of Ezra Pound, Jorge Luis Borges and Czeslaw Milosz into Chinese. He has received numerous awards including, in 1994, the Modern Poetry Prize of China.
