Award-winning novelist and dramatist. Her first novel Black Dirt (2004) was shortlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction and the Commonwealth Book Prize. In 2013 she published the novel The Colour of Milk which won her the Best Book of the Year award, 2014, in Spain. She also won an Evening Standard Theatre Award for her play Comfort me with Apples. Her work Bedlam was the first written by a woman for Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. She also won the Richard Imison award for her first play for BBC Radio. Her latest published work is Memoirs of a Dipper (2015).
