(Argentina) Born in Villa Mercedes in San Luis province, Aráoz teaches Literature. She won a scholarship to study a post-graduate degree in Madrid, where she received her qualification to teach Spanish Literature and Language and her degree in Spanish Philology. She is currently the president of the Sociedad de Escritoras y Escritores de la Argentina, SEA. She has been on the board of writers of the magazine Último Reino and is now a member of the Fundación El Libro’s committee for cultural activities. She designed and organised the Argentina Crece Leyendo campaign to promote books and reading, run by the CONABIP. She has participated at international festivals and book fairs in different countries, the last in Havana, Cuba. She has published the poetry books Equipaje de silencio (1982), Itinerario del fuego (1991) and Diabla (2007), the essay Ángel García López: una renovación del símbolo en la lírica española contemporánea (1986), as well as a number of essays on culture, education, reading and women’s participation in Argentinean politics. In Spain she has won the first Tiflos Poetry Prize, in 1986, the 1988 Vicente Aleixandre Poetry Prize and the Second Carmen Conde Prize in 1989. Some poems from Diabla have been translated into languages such as Japanese and Turkish.
