Brigitte Baptiste is a Colombian biologist who graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, with a Master's in Conservation and Tropical Development from the University of Florida. She is an Honorary Doctor of Environmental Management from Unipaz and an Honorary Doctor of Law from the University of Regina. She was director for 10 years of the Alexander Von Humboldt Biological Resources Research Institute and since 2019 she has served as the Rector of Ean University, a higher education institution focused on sustainable entrepreneurship. She is considered an expert on environmental and biodiversity issues and is a leading expert in gender diversity. She has also been a major figure in building bridges between politics, academia, and science. She was on the global expert panel of the biodiversity platform, IPBES, and one of the co-authors of this platform’s Values Assessment. Currently, she is part of various national and international networks associated with biodiversity management.
