(Spain) Jessica Aliaga Lavrijsen lectures at the Centro Universitario de la Defensa (Zaragoza). She took a degree in English Language from the University of Zaragoza in 2003 and completed her education on the Textual and Cultural Studies in the English Language Doctorate Programme. In June 2010 she completed her doctorate with the thesis entitled The Redefinition of Scottish Identity and the Relation Self-Other(s) in the Fiction of Brian McCabe (published by Peter Lang in 2012). Her most recent publications include El otro McCoy (2012), “Trauma and Silence in Brian McCabe’s ‘Say Something’”, included in Between the Urge to Know and the Need to Deny: Trauma and Ethics in Contemporary British and American Literature, and “Between Remembering and Forgetting: Time Distortions in Personal and Collective Trauma in Hiroshima Mon Amour”.
