JOHN BANVILLE is an Irish writer with an illustrious and extensive career. His nineteen novels published under his own name, along with eight detective novels signed under his alter ego Benjamin Black ,have earned him awards, including the Booker in 2005, the Franz Kafka in 2011 or the Prince of Asturias Literature Prize in 2014.
