(Lima, 1925) A distinguished visual artist, active intellectual and an outstanding figure in Peruvian culture since the mid-20th century. The artist who introduced abstract art to Peru, he continues to work and exhibit. His artworks can be seen in major international collections, and he has exhibited over a hundred times. He was married to the poet Blanca Varela, with whom he had two children. He has published the book Miradas furtivas. Antología de textos (1955-2012).
