A Colombian musician renowned for being one of British rock music’s outstanding bassists. His first musical experiences were in South America with his successful band Malanga and with university bands in California, USA. He took a Batchelor of Arts at Cambridge and after his degree began to play double bass on the English and American jazz circuits. His band, Macondo, founded by him and for which he composes, won a prize for the best European jazz group and he has played with them at the Montreaux and Newport jazz festivals. In Cambridge he received a prize for composition with his string quartet, Vientos del Sur.

Chucho has done many tours around the world with different artists and has participated on many musical projects as arranger, composer and producer. He conducted the London Philharmonic Orchestra on the album Iron Man by Pete Townshend and played bass on Scoop, White City and Deep End Live! He was also the musical director for The Who’s 25th anniversary tour.
