Hernán VILLA ORTEGA

Also known as “El Corroncho”, he is a Colombian singer-songwriter who has been advocating corronchismo for fifty years, and has become its ideologue. He has been assimilating the negative connotations that this concept involves in order to turn it into something positive, part of the character of those who live on the Caribbean coast. He also wrote the classic porro, El Corroncho, which Alfredo Gutiérrez recorded in 1980. He is a cultural investigator and has his own definition of the word: a corroncho is an honest, distinguished, cheerful and friendly person. He won a Latin Grammy in 2012, and in 2014 gained the recognition of Cartagena Historical and Cultural Heritage.
