Thirty nine by thirty nine seems like a cabalistic number but it is the gathering in Bogota that will bring together 39 Latin American writers under the age of 40. It is not about gauging the future of our literature.
These writers are the present and the future. In exceptional cases, precocious and admirable, they traced new routes, linked to the traditions of their predecessors, many of them still alive. 39x39 is the latest drawing on the map of Latin American narrative, on display in the enormous panel of Bogota, World Book Capital.
