Neuadd fawr Canolfan Gelfyddydau Aberystwyth oedd lleoliad ein sioe ni heddiw, llwyfan eang a phroffesiynol ei gwedd, y gosodiad perffaith i allu perfformio ein gorau glas o flaen dros 350 o ddisgyblion.
Yr awdur i bobol ifanc, Jenny Valentine sydd yn ein cyflwyno ni yn ddyddiol gan osod tôn groesawgar a hwyliog i’r digwyddiad. Cyflwynodd fideo byr sy’n rhoi blas i’r disgyblion o Ŵyl y Gelli, yn enwedig yr holl gyfleon gwych sydd ar gae yn rhad ac am ddim i ysgolion ar ddau ddiwrnod agoriadol yr ŵyl bob blwyddyn. Os ydych chi’n ysgol a fyddai’n dymuno dod i’r Gelli, cysylltwch â Gŵyl y Gelli i gael gwybod mwy am arlwy anhygoel diwrnodau’r ysgolion.
Un o’r awduron byd enwog a welir yn y fideo byr a ddangoswyd o’r llwyfan yw Ali Sparkes, ac ni siomwyd y disgyblion heddi chwaith gan ei chyflwyniad byw gwych. Yn anffodus, golygodd damwain ddifrifol ar y lôn fod tair ysgol yn hwyr yn cyrraedd Aberystwyth, ond fe gyrhaeddodd dwy o’r tair ysgol mewn pryd i allu profi dawn ryfeddol Ali Sparkes i hypnoteiddio ei chynulleidfa!
Gyda’r neuadd yn llawn a’r disgyblion o Ysgolion Caer Elen, Penweddig, Hwlffordd, Bro Idris, Aberdaugleddau, Ysgol Emlyn a Llanidloes, yn codi hwyl roedd hi’n bryd i fi ddod i’r llwyfan i bastynnu a chadw sŵn. Ond wrth gyflwyno’r syniad fod cynganeddu yn galw am ganolbwyntio ac ambell foment o dawelwch, fe ymatebodd pob un yn wych gan fynd ati i roi meddwl ar waith a chreu cynganeddion. Cadeiriwyd Jessica o ysgol Hwlffordd, am linell wych oedd nid yn unig yn gynghanedd, ond a oedd hefyd yn farddoniaeth.
‘We should eat diabetes!’ - llinell â neges gadarnhaol i drechu’r salwch sy’n effeithio cymaint o bobol. Ymlaen â ni i Abertawe!

The Great Hall in Aberystwyth Arts Centre was the splendid location for today’s leg of the Scribbler’s Tour. The perfect setting to allow us to perform to the best of our abilities in front of over 350 pupils from far and wide.
The wonderful author Jenny Valentine is the show’s compère and she manages to set a relaxed and fun tone to the proceedings. With each show, Jenny plays a short video that gives a taste of the varied and fun day out that Shools can have for free at Hay Festival during the Thrusday and Friday that open the festival. One of the famous authors that we can see strutting her stuff in the video is Ali Sparkes, and just as impressive was her live presentation today. A road traffic accident unfortunately meant that three schools were late arriving, but most schools managed to witness Ali’s amazing hypnotising ability.
By the time I got on stage, the pupils from Caer Elen, Haverfordwest High School, Penweddig, Bro Idris, Emlyn High, Milford Haven and Llandiloes High School were all buoyed up and full of energy, which was perfect to embark on a rap and cynghanedd adventure. We held a chairing ceremony in which Jessica from Haverfordwest won the Chair for a great line that was not only in cynghanedd, but also very poetic. As we discussed the difficult issue of diabetes which affects so many people, she emphatically declared:
“We should eat diabetes!”
Maybe strict meter poetry can help in tje fight to improve our health! Onwards to Swansea.

He won the chair at the National Eisteddfod in Monmouthshire in 2016. He has been a presenter on Heno on S4C and was the Children's Poet of Wales. He was a rapper and a member of the bands Genod Droog and Diwygiad. He was brought up in Pontypridd but now lives in Pontyberem in the Gwendraeth Valley.
