The Winner of the 2009 Hay Short Story Competition

In its second year, the competition, profits from which benefit Hay Community Support, continues to discover new talent. Linda Leatherbarrow will read her winning story 'The Complete Companion' and be presented with her prize by Barbara Erskine, who selected her story from over 300 entries. 


Linda Leatherbarrow's short story collection Essential Kit was published by Maia Press in 2004. Her poems have appeared in magazines including The London Magazine, Magma and Other Poetry. She also writes book reviews and features for newbooks and Slightly Foxed and teaches at Middlesex University.

The competition is sponsored by Richard Booth's Bookshop and Betty Maura-Cooper, Chair, Hay Community Support.

Entry to this event is free but you must reserve a ticket.
