Jimmy McGovern talks to Clemency Burton-Hill

 

Jimmy McGovern has written some of the most powerful television dramas of the past 25 years. From Cracker to Common and from Accused to The Street, he has never shied away from tackling difficult subjects.  His new series Broken (BBC One) stars Sean Bean as a Catholic priest presiding over a northern urban parish, playing confidante, counsellor and confessor to a congregation struggling to reconcile its beliefs with the challenges of daily life. McGovern will talk about the new series, what attracts him to particular stories and scenarios, and the craft of writing.
