The Vic Ash & Simon Spillett Quintet unites five of the leading musicians on the UK Jazz scene and the connections between all the players run deep: BBC Award-winner Spillett was once a student of Brit-Jazz veteran Ash, whilst the stellar rhythm section of John Critchinson, Alec Dankworth and Clark Tracey boast a collective CV including such giants as Oscar Peterson, Dave Brubeck, Chet Baker and Michael Brecker. The mix of Ash's classic clarinet and tenor style with Spillett's energised playing results in a band full of contrast, synergy and genuine mutual respect.
