Rob Smith’s 30-piece band has a rock solid rhythm section, led by Mark O'Connor, and is complemented by a dazzling array of brass playing juggernaut funk, filthy blues, spicy Latin, skankin' ska and uplifting African township melodies. Much of their material is original, having been written and performed during the numerous collaborations they have enjoyed with a number of major bands and individual performers such as Claude Deppa (Africa All-stars, Carla Bley) Jason Yarde (Jazz Jamaica), Ska giant King Django and South African percussion giants Amampondo, with whom they have worked with on a number of occasions.
