The National Trust was founded 115 years ago to care 'for places of natural beauty or historic interest for the benefit of the nation.' Now 4.1m are members and over 18m visited last year, sharing our commitment to these eternal goals. The Trust remains committed to going local, bringing our many special places to life and celebrating the memorable experiences that visits to our great countryside properties offer visitors. In this, the centenary year of the death of our founder Octavia Hill, we remain passionate about continuing her inspirational vision for everyone to enjoy special places.
