Recent winners of the Peter Whittingham Jazz Award 2010, WSP have quickly laid down impressive live credentials at a variety of top venues and festivals across the UK. Described as ‘infectiously enthusiastic music’ (Chris Parker), the group’s sound is drawn from a wealth of experience in jazz, funk, free-improvisation, punk and contemporary classical music that centres around the compositional eccentricity of Dave Morecroft. Combining lyricism with a burning intensity, unruly progressions and flowing melodic phrases, WSP create edgy and experimental music with a smile on its face.
