The programme to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore will begin with a ritual lighting of the deepa lamp dedicated to the god Ganesha and the reading of Tagore’s poetry in English and Bengali by actress Sharmila Tagore, the poet’s great-grand-daughter. The event will conclude with a dance of Tagore’s poems in Spanish performed by Mónica de la Fuente in the bharata natyam Indian classical dance and the musicians Ido Segal and Nantha Kumar.
