Oxfam at Hay Festival

The two-week festival ran for its fourth year from 2–15 July 2012 and featured more than 400 local promotions and book-related events which took place in Oxfam shops and other venues across the country.

The events included a host of authors, poets and celebrities, and activities for the whole family.

Oxfam Bookfest: The UK's largest community book festival

The annual Bookfest sees a huge boost in book sales in Oxfam shops and bookshops, and an extra 300,000 books donated to the shops generating thousands of pounds in additional book sales for Oxfam over the summer.

As well as raising money through book sales and donations for Oxfam's vital work, Bookfest celebrates the central role that books and reading play across lives and communities in the UK and beyond.

Book donations at the Hay Festival in 2009–2010 provided the equivalent of the stock needed to set up five new Oxfam bookshops: an incredibly generous contribution to Oxfam's life-changing work. As a book lover, you can share the love by bringing along a volume (or two or three) to help Oxfam fill its donation container at each year's Hay Festival.
