Dave Stapleton Quintet

Event 1Friday 6 August 2010, 6pm Venue: Christ College Stage

Dave Stapleton Quintet

Since releasing their last album The House Always Wins in 2007, this powerful Quintet have wowed audiences throughout the UK and Europe and have received 5-star reviews in the press. Stapleton has gained a reputation as an ambitious composer – his contemporary high energy jazz, with its powerful riffs and melodic hooks, echoes the excitement of 1960s Blue Note bebop.

‘An ebullient third album, made for the label he co-founded, by the same powerful quintet he started out with. Stapleton draws on a wide range of enthusiasms, from Herbie Hancock's 1970s Mwandishi band to Keith Jarrett's quartet with Jan Garbarek.' John Fordham, The Guardian
