Hay Fever Children's programme for Hay Festival

outreach programmes

The festival's desire to inspire is not restricted merely to twelve days in May. Across the UK and throughout the year Hay Fever runs outreach events for children to enjoy including Brecon LitFest, Southampton LitFest and GlamLit.

  • one-off events

  • We run one-off events benefiting primary and secondary school children local to Hay, including Michael Morpurgo at Hay Primary School, Lemn Sissay at Fairfield School, Gillian Clarke Exam Boosting for Year 11s and teacher master classes, Caroline Bird at Gwernyfed High School and One Day Film Schools.

  • the scribblers

    the scribblers website

  • Hay Festival’s very own writing club for local children. With the support of local journalists, writers, illustrators and designers the children meet weekly to ‘scribble’ articles, interviews, reviews, short stories, recipes and illustrations. The resulting quarterly magazine is published both in print and online (www.hayfestival.com/thescribblers) and distributed to all local schools.
