Imagine the World

31 May—10 June 2012

This summer Hay Festival celebrates its 25th festival with a stunning programme of international writers and thinkers. Don't miss:

  1. Hay Fever: our festival for families and children, packed with favourite authors, crafts and workshops, plus a dedicated children's area. And Hf2, our unique programme for teenagers.
  2. The Sound Castle: an exciting new music programme, set in the gardens of Hay Castle. Expect a vibrant and contemporary line up, featuring Mercury Prize winners and future stars.
  3. Festival extras: all manner of on site and off site extras to occupy you in between events, including food, walks, farm visits, and local exhibitions. Enjoy.

Writers imagine the world not how it is but how it might be.. They reconnect you with the fantastical world of imagination that is the greatest gift of being a child. And in remaking the world they make a case for human rights, not just legal rights but the rights to live and love and die in freedom. Especially if it is freedom of the imagination.
