There are two events currently on earlybird sale to members of the mailing list. Book for comedy rock superstar, Tim Minchin's opening night concert or Hilary Mantel's conversation about Bring Up The Bodies, her sequel to the Booker-winning Wolf Hall.

Further names and tickets will be released next week.

In 2011, on the side of the angels we had a congregation of bishops and theologians and scholars; on the side of mankind we had an array of the world's greatest cosmologists and philosophers, comedians and storytellers from every continent. Game on. And every night we danced and laughed.

Charity collections at Hay Festival 2011 raised a total of £10,764, just beating the 2010 figure. Charities that benefit from the collections include Humanitarian Aid, Concern Universal, Medical Aid for Palestinians, Birmingham Children’s Hospital Heart Appeal, and the Samaritans.

Plan now for our 25th anniversary next year – the dates are Thursday 31 May to Sunday 10 June 2012.
