Resistance Reimagined

Photography exhibition

Richard Booth’s Bookshop, Hay

‘Resistance Reimagined’ by Richard Greatrex is a retelling of the story in Owen Sheers’ novel Resistance, primarily in images, with a smattering of Owen’s poetic writing.

The presentation comprises 30 individual prints from the the story, a continuous pictorial frieze that shows the whole narrative and a limited edition printed portfolio of the complete project. The presentation opens to coincide with a screening of the film of Resistance, directed by Amit Gupta, at the Hay Festival Winter Weekend on Saturday 3 December.

The project, though inspired by the same book as the film, is a completely separate undertaking and did not use any of the film’s facilities.

Richard Greatrex is a recent immigrant to Border Country and is by trade and history a cinematographer, responsible for the cinematography of such films as A Knight’s Tale, Mrs Brown and Shakespeare in Love.
