José Luis ARAGÓN VERA

aragon-vera-jose-luis Born in Miahuatlán, Oaxaca, in 1961. Between 1980 and 1985 he studied Physical Engineering at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, an institution that named him a UAM Distinguished Graduate in 2015. In 1988 he received a Master’s degree in Physics from UNAM’s Faculty of Sciences and, in 1990, the degree of Doctor in Materials Physics from CICESE, Baja California. In 1988 he started work as a researcher at the Institute of Physics at UNAM and, in 1999, joined the Laboratory (later, in 2002 Centre) of Applied Physics and Advanced Technology, based in Juriquilla, Querétaro. He has also spent sabbatical periods at the CSIC’s Institute for Applied Physics in Madrid and Oxford University’s Centre for Mathematical Biology. He is a Level 3 member of the National Scholars’ Network and his research specialities are: mathematical crystallography and biomathematics. He is currently the Director of the Centre for Applied Physics and Advanced Technology, at UNAM’s Juriquilla campus.
