Adi Corrales Magallanes is a mechanical engineer and graduate from the Querétaro Technological Institute with two Master’s in Mechatronics, one from the University of Applied Sciences in Aachen, Germany, and the other from the CONACyT Mexican Public Research Centres network. He has over 15 years of experience, taking part in technological research and development projects in the automotive and food industries, as well as high impact scientific and social spheres such as the medical sector, and also the development of instruments for activities related to space observation. He currently runs Automated Systems at the Centre for Industrial Development and Engineering. During his career has participated actively as a project engineer, analyst and coordinator in the development of various instruments together with the UNAM Institute of Astronomy, many of which are already operating. Most recently he has managed a team developing FRIDA, a latest-generation instrument that will be installed in the GTC telescope in the Canary Islands, and the team designing the San Pedro Mártir optical telescope, which may become Mexico’s largest optical telescope.
