Verónica Michelle Bachelet Jeria is a Chilean politician who, representing the Chilean Socialist Party, was president of the country from 2006 to 2010 and from 2014 to 2018. In 2010 she was appointed the first Executive Director of UN Women, which works for gender equality and women’s empowerment. She was appointed UN High Commissioner of Human Rights in 2018.
