The journalist Pablo Arbeláez Restrepo was born in Medellin 67 years ago. He has dedicated 42 years to sports journalism and for just over 36 of them he wrote on sports for El Colombiano, being in charge of cycling coverage between 1987 and 2014. This social communicator-journalist graduated from the Faculty of Social Communication of the UPB and on several occasions has lectured on journalism in that faculty and in the Postgraduate Department, always specializing in sports. Pablo covered 25 Vuelta a Colombia races, as well as 22 RCN classics, Vueltas de la Juventud, Tour del Porvenir races and Vueltas del Futuro during the national season. In the 1980s and 1990s he accompanied Colombian cyclists on several Tours de France, Vueltas a España and Giro d’Italia races, as well as the Dauphiné and the World Championships. In the 2000s he used his writing and journalism to promote cycling stars of the future, and for 28 years he was one of the organizers of the El Colombiano Classic, a competition that promotes several types of cycling, including road cycling, BMX, mountain biking and bike trial.
