This iconic documentary cinema director was formed in the National School of Cinema under the instruction of Colin Young. Broomfield imbues his documentaries with a unique style, filming without a crew using only himself and a couple of cameras. His most renowned documentary is Kurt and Courtney, about Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, which was screened for the first time in 1998 at Sundance before being later vetted. Amongst the many awards the director has received over the years two stand out, the Californian State Bar Award and the BAFTA in recognition to his professional career and achievements.
