Adam MICHNIK

(Warsaw, 1946) Adam Michnik was one of the leaders of Solidarity, the dissident movement in Poland. The founding editor of Gazeta Wyborcza, Poland’s most important newspaper, Michnik has written several collections of essays and received several prizes for his work. He has been awarded the doctor honoris causa in several countries. His awards include the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award, the Erasmus Prize for his contribution to the construction of Europe, the Knight of the Legion of Honour distinction and the Francisco Cerecedo Journalism Award.
