Pilar DEL RÍO

(Spain,1950) She is a journalist and translator. She married the writer José Saramagoin 1988 and, after living with him for some years in Lisbon, in 1993 they movedto the Canary Islands where they lived until the death of Saramago in 2010.That year saw the release of José y Pilara documentary directed by Miguel Gonçalves Mendes that portrays her life withSaramago for more than two years, showing her personal and professional lifetogether with the Portuguese Nobel laureate. In 2013 Alfaguara published José y Pilar. Conversaciones inéditaswith many of the interviews made for the documentary. She is currently thechairman of the José Saramago Foundation.
