Farrukh Dhondy was born in Poona before it was Pune and went to school and college there, followed by Cambridge University in the UK to do a degree in Physics. He didn't want to work as an atomic scientist for reasons of conscience and so began doing odd jobs and writing. He still does the writing – mostly books, screenplays and journalism in and about Britain and India.
