(Colombia) Carlos Castillo is a sociologist at the National University of Colombia. He has a doctorate from Cornell University and has worked at Colombia’s National Department of Planning, OFISEL’s consultancy office and UNICEF. He writes on social development, urban life and social structure, and has also written two novels,

Mejor no saberlo, published by Alfaguara. Castillo has lectured at the National, Andean and Rosario Universities in Colombia, and Cornell in the USA. He currently works freelance as a consultant and researcher, and was recently commissioned by the Regional Centre for the Promotion of Books in Latin America and the Caribbean (CERLALC) to write a piece on publishing piracy in Latin America.
