Bruno ARPAIA

Bruno Arpaia was born in Naples province, Italy, in 1957. He is a journalist, editorial consultant and translator of Spanish and Latin American literature (including works by Ortega y Gasset, C. J. Cela, G. G. Márquez, Carlos Fuentes, Paco Ignacio Taibo II and others). Winner of various literary prizes, he has published many novels; some of the most important are: I forestieri, 1991 Bagutta Opera Prima Prize; Tempo perso, 1997 Hammett Italia Prize; The Angel of History, Alassio-Un autore per l’Europa Prize and the 2001 Selezione Campiello Award; and L’energia del vuoto, a work published in 2011 which won the Merck Serono Prize and was shortlisted for the Strega Award. Furthermore, he wrote Raccontare, resistere (2002) together with Luis Sepúlveda. He gives narrative technique classes at Milan’s Bicocca University.
