Roberto AMPUERO

(Valparaíso, Chile, 1953) Ampuero is a Chilean author, columnist, and university professor. His first novel ¿Quién mató a Kristián Kustermann? (1993) won El Mercurio Prize awarded by the Revista del Libro. His other publications include Nuestros Años Verde Olivo (1999), an autobiographical novel about his time in Cuba, Los Amantes de Estocolmo (2003) a bestseller and Book of the Year in Chile, and Pasiones Griegas (2006) named best Spanish Novel in China in 2006. Published in Latin America and Spain, his novels have been translated into German, French, Italian, Chinese, Swedish, Portuguese, Greek, Croatian, and English.

Ampuero was a professor at the University of Iowa until 2011, when he became Ambassador of Chile in Mexico. His most recent book is El último tango de Salvador Allende.
