(Lives and works in Bogotá, Colombia and Chicago, USA) Cruz studies Film and Philosophy at the Universidad Nacional and Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá. He holds a Ph.D. in the Philosophy of Religions from the University of Chicago. As a philosopher Cruz has taught and lectured in Colombia and abroad, participating in colloquia on the work of Michel Foucault (Pisa, Italy), Jacques Derrida (London, England) and Walter Benjamin (Bogotá).
Since 1995 he has been a member of music groups, among them Los Telúricos, Trinomio de Oro, PPYY and Monton Volador; since 2012 he is a member of Las Ruinas Telepáticas, along with Victor Albarracín, Darcy Cabrera and Lorena Espitia. Recent exhibitions of his work as a visual artist include: Una entidad compleja, El Parche Artists’ Residency, Bogotá (2012); Satanalgas vende lote, El Bodegón, Bogotá (2009); Net art Colombia: Es feo y no le gusta el cursor,Museo de Arte Banco de la República, Bogotá (2008). Las Ruinas Telepáticas is a music group formed in 2012 by Víctor Albarracín (guitar, vocals), Darcy Cabrera (drums), Tupac Cruz (guitar, vocals) and Lorena Espitia. They have performed at El Parche and Espacio 101, and acted as wedding band for the performance "Wedding" by Andres Matute Echeverri and Liliana Vélez at the 8th Performance Festival in Cali.
