Álex DE LA IGLESIA

(1965, Bilbao, Spain) Son of a sociology professor and a painter, Alex de la Iglesia is a well-known Spanish filmmaker, and scriptwriter. He began his career working on TV programs and the film Todo por la pasta, directed by Enrique Urbizu). His first feature length film Acción Mutante (1993) was produced by Almodóvar’s El Deseo S.A. His film El día de la Bestia (1995) won two Goya awards, one for Best Director. De la Iglesia has also written sketches for Spanish TV programmes such as El peor programa de la semana, El Gran Wyoming, Inocente, inocente and the series Plutón B.R.B. Nero (2008). His films include Durango (1997), La comunidad (2000), 800 balas (2002), and the award-winning Balada triste de trompeta (2010). 2011 saw the premiere of “La Chispa de la Vida”, starring Salma Hayek and Jose Mota.
